Love Letters
Alessia & Lukas
Ever wondered what would happen if your partner organised the exact same proposal as you? Well, Alessia and Lukas did just that. As the saying goes — great minds think alike, especially when those minds happen to be in love.

Let’s set the scene — how did you two meet?
Alessia: We actually met each other at work at a real estate agency in Switzerland. I was his assistant for a year when he told me after the company’s Christmas dinner that he has feelings for me.

What made you realise you were meant for each other?
Alessia: I can't tell exactly when I knew Lukas was the one for me. After so much time spent together, I just know he is always there for me no matter what and that I can rely on him 100%.
You know, we worked together for almost 7 years so I think that’s really a great sign that we can overcome any hurdle, and there was never a conflict we couldn’t solve. I believe this is a wonderful foundation for marriage.
Lukas: When I was in the military a few years ago, I would always be talking about Alessia. A colleague once asked, quite simply: ‘So, when are you getting married?’ and it’s at that moment that I realised Alessia was the one. Only a few days after this realisation, Alessia drove many hours to pick me up from my military service and surprised me with a birthday cake. This shows how supportive, thoughtful and caring she is.
Turns out I took a big part in the proposal planning... Without even knowing it!— AlessiaTell us about the proposal: how did you manage to plan the same event?
Alessia: Well, turns out I took a big part in the proposal planning… Without even knowing it! We planned a trip to Tuscany, for our holiday in July and I wanted to plan a little birthday surprise for Lukas. Tuscany, of course, is famous for its wines and vineyards. What better location for a birthday picnic, right?
So there’s me contacting the hotel and them and planning the whole thing. What I obviously didn't know at that point was that Lukas had the exact same idea and day in mind for the proposal.
Lukas: It was so difficult to sketch out a plan without her knowing because she's like a little detective and finds out everything! Alessia’s sister told me immediately that Alessia was planning a birthday surprise on the same day as was planning to propose… Yes: during a picnic in the vineyards of Tuscany. I thought, well, might as well book a photographer and go along with it. The most inconspicuous approach was to make Alessia think we were (just) going to have a birthday picnic.

And… How did it go?
Alessia: Due to how emotional it was, at that moment everything seemed like a blur, I just remember my first words: ‘Yes!’, ‘I knew it’, and ‘Wait.. Did you ask my mom?’
He did in fact ask my mom for my hand prior to organising the proposal.
Lukas: Her saying ‘yes’ was one of the most beautiful moments in my life. The moments right after were also very memorable. To talk about how I planned everything and for her to put all the puzzle pieces together, I think that made it extra special. After the picnic we walked back to the main house and I was so proud to have such an incredibly strong and beautiful woman by my side, and to call her my fiancée.

Let’s talk diamonds: what ring did you choose and why?
Alessia: I was curious to know what my perfect ring would look like when the time came. I looked up different kinds of rings online and found a beautiful one at 77 Diamonds. I went to the Zurich showroom and tried so many beautiful designs, but the Aphrodite Halo was definitely the one.
The jewellery expert wrote all the information about the ring down and put it away so if Lukas one day decided to come by, he would already have everything he needed for the band style and then would only have to choose the centre diamond.
Lukas: I knew Alessia already went to the 77 Diamonds showroom in Zurich, so I went with her sister to pick out her ideal ring. Thankfully the piece arrived just in time for our departure to Tuscany — and two days later we were happily engaged.

Why did you choose the Aphrodite ring in particular?
Alessia: I love everything about it. The sparkle when the sun hits the ring, the hidden accent stones, the timeless style. The fact that it is an elegant statement without being too overpowering. This engagement ring for me symbolises love and commitment. It is a promise to always choose love. A reminder to fight for love even if times get rough. It is so easy nowadays to throw everything away instead of working on it.
