77’s Head Jewellery Designer, Charlotte White, is a person that lives and breathes her craft. With a deep-rooted passion for gemstones, intricate design and fine art, Charlotte brings a thoughtful, story-driven approach to every piece she creates. Trained both academically and at the bench, she blends artistic vision with hands-on technical expertise: a combination that defines her approach to every piece she creates.

We sat down to talk about her beginnings, her inspirations, and the creative spark behind her much-loved collections.

How did you start?

Charlotte White: I’ve always had a passion for jewellery and gemstones, as well as art and design. After studying Fine Art and Art History, that passion naturally led me into a degree in Jewellery Design. I was also trained on the bench, learning how to produce jewellery by hand, which gave me crucial knowledge of how pieces are constructed. My interest in gemstones and diamonds eventually drew me into designing fine jewellery.

What inspires you when you create a collection?

Charlotte White: Inspirations for my collections come from everywhere, from nature, to art, and even the stars. Often, something in everyday life will spark a new idea. I love to sketch, and it’s usually from a small sketch or thought that a full collection begins to take shape.

I’m particularly drawn to designing pieces that tell a story or hold meaning for the wearer. I often explore this through subtle details in my designs, such as adding secret diamonds to certain pieces, or through themed collections like Toi et Moi.

What type of jewellery design or stone do you prefer working with?

Charlotte White: I love designing engagement rings, knowing that this piece of jewellery will be used for a couples’ special moment and worn for a lifetime. I’m especially drawn to working with gemstones and coloured diamonds. And for me the perfect jewellery piece is pairing white diamonds with coloured stones, as the contrast of the two magnifies the colour and brilliance in both. If I had to choose my favourite gemstone though it would be an emerald. Emeralds have such a vibrant dramatic green hue that really adds a unique touch to a piece of jewellery.

Which is, for you, your most loved collection, and the one you had most fun creating?

Charlotte White: For me our best selling Starlight Collection is the one I enjoyed designing the most. I loved exploring the concept of the stars and the night sky, which is such a fascinating source of inspiration. It allowed me to experiment with star inspired diamond layouts and colour, by contrasting diamonds with rich gemstones such as tanzanites, sapphires and emeralds.

I wanted to add details to our engagement rings which allow the couple to feel a connection to the ring and we did this through small hidden star set diamonds inside the band, a small detail only known by the wearer. This collection was also 77 Diamonds first full lab grown diamond collection, which was an exciting milestone.

What does the future hold: any teasers on what might be happening for 77 in 2026?

Charlotte White: This year we launched our first Men’s Collection, which was a huge step and something we were all very excited for. In 2026 we have plans to expand this Men's Collection with a range of classic signet rings as well as textured and two tone wedding bands. We will also explore a new collection of jewellery for vintage-cut diamonds: an exquisite diamond cut that creates mesmerising light reflections and flashes of colour. The collection is inspired by traditional vintage jewellery styles, combined with a modern, wearable feel.
