Love Letters
Sophie & Bailey

Modern love often begins with something as simple as a swipe, and for Sophie and Bailey, that tiny digital moment changed everything. What began as a playful match on a dating app quickly became the deepest of connections. As their story unfolded, and Christmas Eve finally arrived, so did a moment of love neither of them will ever forget.

So you met on a dating app… What was your first date like?

Sophie: On our first date I got so drunk I slipped and split my whole drink down the front of his new blazer. Rather than being embarrassed he laughed. It didn’t mean to… So I thought to myself ‘I have to kiss him at the end of the night, at least to say sorry’. From then on I knew he was the one.

And he proposed on Christmas?

Sophie: Bailey hid the ring in my stocking after I had gone to bed. In the morning one of my gifts was a photo album of us from when we met up until recently. After I finished looking at it he told me I had a surprise gift in my stocking. It was a bauble ring holder with my beautiful ring inside.

Did you suspect anything beforehand, Sophie?

Sophie: Not even a little! It was such a shock. We had been on holiday a couple of months before and he kept saying ‘I hope you don't think I'm going to propose, that’s not happening for a while’. So I had absolutely no idea. The ring was a total surprise too and I had no input at all. He had been planning for months!

How did the proposal moment unfold?

Sophie: A few days before, I had seen there was an extra present for me under the tree and picked it up. I actually thought the photo album was a cookbook. And so, not wanting Bailey to feel left out, I made some very quick purchases for him and on Christmas Eve and hid his presents in his stocking.

The plan was for him to propose as soon as I finished the photo album. When he said ‘I think that’s all the presents done’, he wasn’t expecting me to reply ‘actually I have a few more in your stocking…’. I thought it was weird he was shaking while opening his gifts. It was so sweet now thinking back.

Sophie’s Ring — The Kindrea

The soft curve of the Kindrea ring, set with cut-down diamonds, gives it a seemingly endless shimmer and a vintage feel. Sophie later paired her ring with the Kindrea eternity ring, matching her proposal piece with the same aesthetic.
