The popularity of an Asscher cut for an engagement ring stems from the desire for a high clarity diamond as the structure of the facets in an Asscher cut diamond require a stone to have a high clarity (VS2 and above for GIA and VS1 and above for EGL, to ensure it is completely eye clean).
