Decide which diamond features matter most to you, be that carat size, cut quality or other factors, then adjust other grades slightly to stay within budget. If sparkle and brilliance are your priority, focus on attaining a higher cut grade, even if it means choosing a slightly smaller carat weight. If size is more meaningful, you can compromise slightly on colour or clarity. At 77 Diamonds, our diamond selector tool lets you refine by each of the 4Cs (cut, colour, clarity, and carat) to find the best balance of size and quality for your price range.
Spend what feels comfortable for your finances and meaningful for your story. While the 'three months' salary' rule is often mentioned, it's now considered outdated. Today, most couples choose a ring that fits their lifestyle and personal values rather than a fixed formula. Your focus should be on selecting a design and diamond that symbolise your relationship and story, not a price tag.
Start by defining your budget and priorities before browsing. Decide whether size, sparkle, or design detail matters most to you, as this will guide your diamond selection. It's also worth learning your partner's ring size early to avoid resizing later. If you have an idea of their taste and style, why not create a moodboard of potential design features you like, you can then pinpoint every aspect that is important for you in an engagement ring. Once you have a clear direction, you can explore styles more confidently and make well-informed choices.
You're likely to have more choice and less pressure to buy when you shop online, and you won't be paying a markup for the costs of running a bricks and mortar store. You can also enjoy the convenience of shopping from home. In store, you'll have access to a sales person who'll be able to offer in-person guidance. At 77, we offer the best of both worlds: a comprehensive online catalogue, plus free showroom appointments where you'll be able to make your choice from a personalised selection of rings with the support of our sales assistant. Visit our appointments page to learn more.
Three months is a great amount of time to start shopping in advance for an engagement ring. This gives you time to consider multiple options and retailers, to ask for advice from friends and family and if necessary to commission a bespoke design. Even if you choose an off-the-shelf design, it may need sizing (adjusting to fit), which can take 2-3 weeks.
In most cases it's best to choose your diamond first, then the setting. The stone is the heart and soul of your ring. It dictates the proportions, style, and even which settings will work, both structurally and aesthetically. It's also where you'll spend the majority of your budget, somewhere between 70-80% is normal. If you do start with a setting first, make sure you're clear on its stone size limitations.
The majority of our items take approximately 15 to 20 working days to be handcrafted, with some of our more elaborate, diamond-set pieces taking up to 8 weeks (this includes vintage, halo, trilogy and diamond-set rings). If you would like to receive your jewellery sooner, we can in some cases speed up the workshop process. This, however, depends on the amount of jewellery we are working on, and on the nature of your jewellery design. Please note, there is an extra fee of SEK 1.649 included to expedite classic solitaire designs, and SEK 2.308 for diamond-set jewellery (such as halos, vintage, or trilogy designs).

Yes, we do – if you have an idea, we have the design. By sharing your ideas with our bespoke team, you can create a jewel that is completely one-of-a-kind. Send over an enquiry explaining what you would like, and attaching any images if possible. A designer will then contact you to discuss your piece, and provide you with a quote.
If you are happy with the quoted piece, our team will send you a selection of computer generated designs, and in certain cases make sketches of your jewel. Once all is approved, we will then source your chosen centre stones and send your item to be crafted in the 77 Diamonds workshop. Our team will let you know how long this will take, depending on the design's complexity.
By the way... If you like the look of one of our pieces, but feel it could be made ever better with a slight alteration – that's also possible! Whether you'd prefer to see a ring set with coloured gemstones, or would like to make a small change to a jewellery piece, simply contact our specialists to find the perfect fit.

You can engrave your ring with any message you choose for an additional fee of SEK 396. A meaningful touch to your jewellery design, simply add an engraving to your ring before checkout. Your ring will have space for up to 15 characters, and you can choose from a range of fonts and symbols to complement your design.
Please note, engraved rings are non-returnable. Your engraving will need to be remade if your ring is resized, so best select an engraving only if you're certain you have the correct size.
Yes, we make our jewellery with a range of gemstones and semi-precious stones. You will find a selection of coloured diamonds and gemstones directly on our website. If you are unable to find a particular gem in our selection, please contact our jewellery specialists and we will source the perfect piece for you.
When it comes to manufacturing jewellery, precious metals such as gold, platinum or palladium are rarely used in their purest form. To increase their strength and enhance colour, they often need to be alloyed with a choice of metals.
As it is impossible to detect the nature of the alloy by sight alone, we have our gold, platinum and palladium jewellery independently tested and hallmarked before they are sold. All our fine jewellery items bear a hallmark at point of sale, with the following weight exemptions:
Gold and palladium: non-mandatory for items below 1 gram.
Platinum: non-mandatory for items below 0.5 grams.
77 Diamonds is registered with the London and Birmingham Assay Offices, ensuring our jewellery is compliant with the UK’s hallmarking regulations. All stock is subject to an internal confirmation process to ensure it meets the UK’s hallmarking regulations before it is dispatched to our customers.
We are an Assay Assured Jewellery Retailer. Assay Assured status is only given to retailers who have been independently audited and verified by Assay Assured which is run and overseen by the Edinburgh Assay Office, ensuring all precious metal jewellery are independently tested and hallmarked.
All our jewellery is hallmarked in the United Kingdom. You will see the following hallmarks for each metal:
Gold (Rose, White and Yellow) – 750
Platinum and Palladium – 950
You can find out what a hallmark looks like here.
We offer our ring and jewellery in a range of gold metal, ranging from 18K, to 14K, to 9K. This covers all gold colours: yellow, white and rose. 18K is generally the perfect balance of colour intensity and durability. 14K can also be a worthwhile option with a smaller price point, whereas 9K has the lowest gold purity, and although less expensive, can be slightly more brittle (this is why we do not offer rose gold in 9K, for example). It’s always best to choose a gold purity that fits both your lifestyle and budget. To learn more, be sure to check our education section.
We only restore 77 Diamonds jewellery to ensure the highest possible quality. Depending on your request, our bespoke team can, in certain cases, recreate a jewellery piece with diamonds or gemstones taken from a vintage piece. For minor restorations, such as replating a white gold ring or polishing your jewellery, we offer a Clean & Polish service that costs SEK 990. This service is only available for customers who have bought a 77 Diamonds jewel.
This is simply because gold is naturally yellow in colour. To obtain a white, reflective sheen, white gold need to be alloyed with other metals such as silver, zinc or nickel, and then coated in a rare metal called rhodium. Over time, a white gold ring can lose its rhodium coating and present a faint yellow hue. Some don't mind this, but if you would like your ring to be restored to its initial lustre, you can send it to be replated by our specialists for a fee of SEK 990. Please contact our jewellery specialists for further information.
In terms of colour, white gold and platinum are virtually identical, and both are intensely bright. So what makes them so different? The answer lies in their composition. Gold is naturally yellow in colour. To obtain that white gold sheen, gold must be alloyed with other metals such as silver, zinc or nickel, and then coated in a rare metal called rhodium. Platinum, on the other hand, is naturally white and doesn't need to be coated in any metal. In terms of pricing, white gold is more lightweight than platinum, and therefore more affordable.
Both rings are durable, with platinum being slightly stronger and less likely to bend. Over time, you may need to replate a white gold ring as the rhodium plating can wear off. A platinum ring will sometimes need to be polished to remove any surface imperfections (known as 'patina'). You can easily do this through our Clean & Polish service which costs SEK 990, and have your ring restored to its original condition.
Ultimately, both white gold and platinum are excellent metals, and there is no wrong choice in purchasing either. To know which to choose, it’s best to understand what is more important to you: is it affordability, durability, or perhaps the amount of aftercare involved? Our team of jewellery consultants will happily guide through these options, so be sure to contact us with any questions.
Your ring should feel as perfect as it looks. We offer a tailored resizing service to help you get the ideal fit. Most rings can be resized and we'll carefully adjust them based on your ring's design and setting.
Please note, the following rings that cannot be resized:
77's Complimentary Resizing Policy
For most rings, resizing is free of charge if returned within 60 days after receiving your order. This covers small adjustments of up to 2 sizes.
Larger adjustments (more than 2 sizes) will cost SEK 660, if the design allows it. If your ring needs to be completely remade, prices go from SEK 1.319 depending on size and style.
Outside our 60-day complimentary resizing window, any resizes will cost SEK 1.319, and brand new unworn rings can be remade at 77 Diamonds' discretion for a fee.
To find your correct size, we send a free sizing kit with every order. For further help, our Customer Care team is here to help with personalised advice. You can also check our Terms and Conditions for complete policy details.
Ready to Wear items are already set with a diamond or gemstone, and just need a simple polish to be picture-perfect, ideal if you're purchasing a last-minute gift. For further details on how long it will take to receive a Ready to Wear item, please visit our Delivery & Returns section.
Yes, we do sell both, as we prefer our customers to have a range of diamond options directly available to them. Our diamond collection separates natural from lab-growns, to avoid any confusion. You'll also receive your gem with a certificate clearly stating that it is a lab-grown.
Once your purchased diamond arrives in our showroom, we are happy to arrange a viewing before it's set into jewellery. Please get in touch with our jewellery specialists to book an appointment.
To make your choice as easy as possible, we recommend first-time buyers learn a little more about diamonds, and more specifically the diamond 4Cs before settling on their favourite gem. Be sure to visit our helpful diamond education section for information on how to pick a diamond. You can also contact our jewellery specialists at any time directly through live chat.
An eye-clean diamond has no ‘inclusions’ (internal imperfections) visible to the naked eye. This means any internal flaws or surface blemishes can only be seen under 10x magnification. We recommend you purchase an ‘eye clean’ diamond, meaning a grade VS2 (Very Slightly Included 2) and higher.
Check the diamond’s grading report and laser inscription, if it has one. All certified diamonds come with documentation from an independent body such as GIA or IGI, detailing its 4Cs and serial number. Many modern diamonds, especially lab-grown, are laser-inscribed on the girdle (the diamond’s rounded contour), allowing you to verify the number under magnification and match it to the report or online database.
The round brilliant cut offers the most sparkle due to its symmetrical facets and ideal light performance. For maximum brilliance, look for an Excellent or 77’s own Cupid’s Ideal cut grade as these diamonds are crafted to even stricter standards, producing exceptional fire and scintillation that surpass conventional grading benchmarks.
Clarity refers to the presence or absence of internal inclusions and external blemishes inside the diamond. Colour refers to how much yellow or brown tint the diamond has, with the best stones appearing completely colourless.
The 4 Cs of diamonds are cut, colour, clarity and carat weight. These categories are widely used across the gemstone industry as a universal grading system to assess a diamond’s quality, value, and overall appearance. They describe how well the diamond is shaped, how clear or tinted it is, how free it is from flaws and inclusions, and its size.
The bow-tie effect in oval and marquise diamonds is caused by ‘light leakage’ that happens when the facet angles and proportions aren’t aligned to return light straight back to your eye. Where light doesn’t reflect properly, it creates dark shadowed areas across the center, known commonly as the “bow-tie.” A bow-tie is not automatically a bad thing, it all depends on how strong it is. Mild / faint bow-tie: Normal and can be desirable. Adds contrast and sparkle. Strong / dark bow-tie: Considered undesirable because it makes the centre of the stone look dull or shadowy.
At 77 Diamonds, we source our gems directly from the manufacturers who polish the stones. These manufacturers usually buy their rough diamonds from the world's main diamond producing countries, which include places such a Botswana, Canada and South Africa. We only deal with suppliers we trust, and who comply with international standards of responsible sourcing. Each diamond we sell is certified and conflict-free.
We always endeavour to offer customers enough choice in their diamond purchase, while ensuring our suppliers meet our strict sourcing standards. To this end, we regularly review and update our Responsible Sourcing Policy, and are making continual efforts to improve wherever needed.
Read more about our responsible sourcing work.
Using some of the finest materials on earth, we craft jewel that match the brilliance of your moment. This is a privilege, but also a great responsibility. As fine jewellers, we are committed to standards of responsible sourcing. This means acting with integrity all along our supply chain, and respecting those we supply from.
Our diamonds are sourced following international standards of responsible sourcing, and come under the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS), which ensures they have not been used to fund armed conflict.
Read more about our Responsible Sourcing Policy. This policy also extends to our coloured gemstones, lab-grown diamonds, and precious metals.
Look for assurance of compliance with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme. At 77 Diamonds, every diamond comes with a written guarantee confirming it is conflict-free. This certification ensures that all stones have been traded under responsible, regulated conditions.
Check for a Kimberley Process statement on your diamond’s certificate or invoice. You can also request diamonds from known ethical origins, such as Canada or Botswana, through our diamond selection service. At 77 Diamonds, we only work with suppliers who comply with strict conflict-free sourcing standards, verified through international certification.
Lab-grown diamonds are often considered more environmentally friendly than mined diamonds, but the full picture depends on how they’re produced. They avoid the large-scale land disruption, habitat damage, and water use associated with mining, which makes them a lower-impact choice in those areas. However, growing diamonds can require significant energy, and the environmental friendliness depends on whether the manufacturer uses renewable or fossil-fuel-based power.
Yes, mixing metals can add contrast and highlight your diamond beautifully. Through our bespoke service, you can combine metals such as platinum with yellow gold claws or prongs, and even add rose gold accents. This allows you to personalise the look: for example, a yellow diamond set in yellow gold prongs on a platinum band enhances both colour and brightness while maintaining durability.
Popular alternatives include sapphires, rubies, and emeralds, chosen for their vibrant colours and durability.
Sapphires come in a range of hues beyond the classic (and iconic) blue, from vibrant oranges to mesmerising pinks.
Rubies symbolise fiery passion, courage and are extremely hard-wearing.
Emeralds bring rich green tones, known as a ‘jardin’ (garden in French) but do require a little more care.
Avoid pearls for engagement rings, they’re soft and easily damaged. You can also consider coloured diamonds or meaningful birthstones through our bespoke design service.
Yes. Vintage-inspired engagement rings remain highly sought after for their character and craftsmanship. Designs influenced by the Art Deco, Victorian, or Edwardian eras are especially popular, often featuring geometric settings, filigree details, or old-cut diamonds. At 77 Diamonds, pieces like the Olympia ring capture this renewed love for vintage style while blending it with modern precision and comfort.
Start by paying attention to what they already wear and love. What kind of jewellery do they wear every day? Who do they follow on social media, what images do they save, do they have a Pinterest board? You could ask their friends or family, who might already have an insight into their dream ring style. Finally, you could go window shopping together ‘for fun’. Casual browsing can reveal a lot about their preferences.
A bezel setting is a good option if you need a low-profile, snag-resistant ring. The metal rim completely (or partially) encircles your stone, so it protects its edges and sits lower. Avoid high-profile settings. Big elevated prongs, tall galleries or stacks of stones that rise up above your finger make catching and snagging more likely.
Choosing a low-profile stone is key to buying jewellery for an active lifestyle. You don’t want to accidentally damage your diamond by knocking or scraping it, and by choosing a design where the stone is low you’re cleverly minimising risk. A bezel setting is a great choice, and a halo design is also worth considering.
A ring design feels timeless when it prioritises classic shapes, clean lines, and elegance proportions over trending styles. Simple solitaires, traditional cuts like round or oval diamonds, balanced proportions, and high-quality materials like platinum or gold will endure for decades to come.
Yes, heirloom diamonds can be beautifully reset into a new design. Our bespoke jewellery team can assess the stone’s dimensions and condition, then craft a setting that complements both its history and your personal taste. This approach preserves family heritage while creating a piece that feels new and personal.
Our bespoke service lets you design a ring from concept to completion:
Once confirmed, our jewellers craft the piece by hand in your chosen metal and gemstone. You’ll be guided through every stage to ensure the finished ring matches your expectations perfectly.
You’ll always see and approve a design sketch before production begins. We don’t start crafting until you’re fully satisfied with the design. If your preferences change after completion, we can often make adjustments or discuss options for reworking the ring through our bespoke service.
Yes, every bespoke design includes a CAD render before production. We only begin crafting once you’ve approved the digital design, ensuring every detail, be that diamond size, proportions, and setting, is exactly as you envisioned. This process eliminates uncertainty and guarantees your ring is made to your precise specifications.
A ring becomes unique when it reflects personal meaning through distinctive details such as gemstone cuts, settings, metal choices, or hidden engravings. 77 Diamonds’ bespoke service allows you to customize all of these elements, from diamond shape and metal type, to setting style, and personal touches, so you can create a truly one-of-a-kind ring that perfectly reflects your partner’s personality and your story together.
Metal colour can dramatically alter how your diamond appears.
White gold or platinum enhances brightness and sparkle, as it is highly reflective.
Yellow gold warms the diamond’s tone and makes lower colour grades seem whiter (for example, tinted diamonds graded J to L).
Rose gold creates soft contrast with white diamonds and flatters most skin tones.
Choosing the right metal helps your stone appear whiter or more vibrant, depending on the effect you prefer.
Palladium is a naturally white metal from the same family as platinum, known for being lightweight yet durable. It shares platinum’s resistance to tarnish and hypoallergenic properties but is less dense, making it more comfortable for everyday wear.
While platinum feels heavier and slightly more premium, palladium offers a similar appearance at a lighter weight and lower price point.
Typically every one to two years with regular wear. White gold is plated with rhodium to enhance its bright, crisp-white finish.
Over time, the coating can fade, revealing the metal’s natural yellowish tone. When that happens, a quick re-plating restores its original brilliance.
The exact interval depends on your lifestyle and how often you wear the ring. For further information, please consult our list of services or chat with our jewellery experts.
There are pros and cons for each metal choice. Most people choose platinum for maximum durability and its bright white finish, but depending on style preference and budget, gold is a classic and timeless choice.
Platinum: extremely durable, naturally white, hypoallergenic, and holds stones very securely.
Yellow gold: timeless, classic, warm. Slightly softer than platinum but still excellent for everyday wear.
White gold: clear, classic and reflects light well.
Rose gold: warm and romantic, pairs well with other metal colours.
Most people choose platinum for maximum durability and long-term colour stability, but depending on budget and maintenance preference, white gold can be a great classic choice.
Platinum: extremely durable, naturally white (no fading), hypoallergenic, and holds stones very securely.
White gold: bright, classic, and reflective, but it needs periodic rhodium plating to keep its white finish.
Most rings can be resized, but there are a few exceptions. Full-set eternity bands, some bespoke designs, or engraved rings may not be adjustable without altering their structure or removing details. Minor size adjustments, usually one or two sizes up or down, are generally safe. Always confirm resizing options before engraving or ordering a custom design. To learn more, please read our sizing policy.
You can exchange the ring for a new size or similar design. At 77 Diamonds, we offer a 30-day exchange window for most orders, allowing you to return your ring and select another size at no additional cost. This ensures a perfect fit even if resizing isn’t structurally possible.
Yes, resizing is complimentary within 60 days after receiving your order for most of our rings. After that period, resizing may incur a service fee depending on the design. Please note that some rings, such as full diamond-set eternity bands, cannot be resized and will need to be exchanged. You can find further details in our sizing policy, or speak to our customer service team for tailored guidance.
Yes. Finger size changes noticeably throughout the day, and both temperature and timing play a major role. In warm conditions, your blood vessels expand and increase blood flow, causing your fingers to swell slightly, while cold temperatures make the vessels constrict, reducing blood flow and making your fingers shrink. Time of day also matters. Many people wake up with slightly swollen fingers due to overnight fluid retention, and throughout the day factors like heat, activity, hydration, and even salt intake can cause your fingers to gradually increase or fluctuate in size. Most jewellers recommend measuring ring size at a neutral time of day, when your hands are neither too hot nor too cold, to get the most accurate and comfortable fit.
Most rings can be safely resized up or down about one to two full sizes. Going beyond two sizes is sometimes possible, but it depends on the metal, design, and whether the band has diamonds or detailed patterns. Larger adjustments can weaken the structure, distort the shape, or affect the setting. For delicate or intricate rings, jewellers may recommend remaking the band instead of resizing it.
You can find out your partner’s ring size discreetly by using a few subtle tricks. Borrow a ring they already wear on the left ring finger (or the closest matching finger) and trace or measure the inside diameter, or secretly take it to a jeweller for sizing. If they don’t wear rings, ask a close friend or family member who might know, or have them help you find out casually. You can also compare one of their rings to your own finger: slide it on and mark where it stops, then get that point measured. Another option is to “accidentally” end up in a shop that sells jewellery and turn it into a fun, casual try-on moment without revealing your true intention. If all fails, choose a slightly larger size when buying the ring: it's easier to resize down than up.
Yes, please get in touch, and we will book you in for a short appointment to measure your ring size.

You may have noticed that two almost identical diamonds can sometimes have quite a significant price difference. This may seem confusing, but please rest assured this often has nothing to do with quality.
To offer you enough choice, we source our diamonds from a range of trusted suppliers. Depending on where the diamonds comes from, you may notice some price fluctuations. This is simply because some suppliers are priced differently to others.
If you notice, however, a big price difference between two diamonds that have roughly the same quality, it's best to check both diamonds' certificates. Certain grading laboratories are more trusted, and therefore price their diamonds higher.
Our diamond prices can sometimes fluctuate, as they are influenced by the global diamond market. Price fluctuation is normal, and the variations are very small from day to day.
In the event that you find the same diamond or jewel at a lower price elsewhere, we are also open to matching our prices with those of other jewellery makers.

Above a size N, you may notice a slight increase in your ring's price. This cost covers the extra metal, and any additional accent diamonds set into the band.
A diamond certificate (or grading report) assesses a stone’s 4Cs: cut, colour, clarity, and carat, and this is always issued by a gemological lab. An appraisal determines the monetary value of the entire jewellery piece, including craftsmanship and materials. Certificates establish authenticity; appraisals help with insurance or resale.

Stay flexible and trust the moment. Proposals don’t need to go perfectly to be meaningful, often, small mishaps make the memory even more special. If your plans change suddenly, focus on your partner and the sentiment behind the proposal rather than the setting or timing.
Choose a temporary or adjustable ring size for the proposal.
Borrow one of their existing rings (from the correct finger if possible).
Ask friends or family for discreet help.
Use our ring size chart or printable guide to estimate based on measurements.
If the size isn’t perfect, resizing after the proposal is straightforward and usually complimentary within 60 days.
Yes it is! Many still choose to propose in public, especially in memorable or meaningful locations. However, preferences vary. If your partner is private or dislikes attention, a more intimate setting might feel more comfortable. The best proposals reflect your relationship’s personality rather than trends.
Short answer: yes, for many people, a proposal photographer is absolutely worth it, but it depends on your priorities, budget, and how private or spontaneous you want the moment to feel. Here are the key pros and cons, and when it’s a good investment:
Pro: Capturing the Moment
Proposals are fast, emotional, and full of raw reactions. A professional photographer can catch expressions, tears, laughs, all things you might completely forget later.
Pro: Memory for the Future
These photos aren’t just for that one moment, they’re great to look back on, to use for engagement announcements, or even wedding invites.
Con: Cost
Proposal photographers aren’t always cheap. Depending on where you are and the photographer’s experience, rates vary.
Con: Planning Risk
Adding a photographer means more planning on what might be an already emotional time. If the proposal changes, you might have to adapt or risk missing the shot.
Involving friends or family can make a proposal feel joyful and even more memorable, adding to the excitement of the occasion. However, before planning anything evaluate whether your partner enjoys being around others for special moments. If they prefer intimacy and privacy, a quiet, personal proposal will feel far more meaningful.
Keep it secure and discreet. Use a small, hard jewellery case or a padded travel box and keep the ring in your hand luggage, not a checked suitcase. Most TSA inspections won’t open a sealed jewellery box unless necessary, but you can request a private screening if concerned. You could also wrap it inside another item, like a small pouch tucked in clothing or a washbag, to reduce the risk of accidental discovery.
The fourth finger on the left hand is believed to contain the vena amoris, or ‘vein of love,’ said to run directly to the heart. Though symbolic rather than anatomical, this tradition dates back to ancient Rome and continues as a romantic gesture today.
Each gemstone carries its own meaning, for example:
To explore more, see our Gemstone Guide, which explains the history and symbolism behind each stone.
Yes, upgrading or redesigning a ring is entirely acceptable. Jewellery often evolves with life’s milestones: whether adding side stones, remodelling a setting or upgrading the diamond. Our bespoke service can help you reimagine your piece while preserving its sentimental value.
Yes! Coloured gemstones are definitely becoming more popular for engagement rings. Trends in recent years show a strong shift toward personalisation, with couples choosing vibrant sapphires, emeralds, rubies, and other stones to express individuality, rather than sticking with traditional white diamonds. If you’re looking for something unique and on‑trend, a coloured gemstone engagement ring is a fantastic choice.
Engagement rings can be dated back to ancient Egypt, where rings were exchanged to symbolise eternal love. The tradition evolved through Rome and medieval Europe, with the first diamond engagement ring given in 1477 from Archduke Maximilian to Mary of Burgundy (a significant year that gave 77 Diamonds its name). Diamonds became widely popular in the 20th-century, especially after the famed ’A Diamond is Forever’ marketing campaign in the 1940s, though today rings are set with a variety of coloured gemstones, reflecting modern tastes and personal style.
If your ring feels tight, it’s best not to force it on. Temporary changes in size are common, so consider wearing the ring on a chain or alternate finger until your size stabilises. Permanent resizing can be done later, though fees may apply outside the complimentary 60-day window.
Have your ring professionally inspected every 2–3 years. Jewellers can check for worn or thinning claws and re-tip them to prevent stone loss. Regular maintenance ensures your setting remains secure for decades.
For rings worn daily, re-polish and rhodium re-plate (for white gold) about once a year. This restores shine and prevents dullness or yellowing. Less frequently worn jewellery can be refreshed every few years, depending on condition.
Yes. Rings from 77 Diamonds can be professionally appraised for resale. Appraisals assess market value based on current diamond prices, condition, and certification. In select cases, we may also offer a buy-back service if all documentation is provided.
Soak your ring in warm water with mild dish soap for 20 to 30 minutes. Use a soft toothbrush to gently remove dirt between the stones, then rinse and dry with a lint-free cloth.
Remove your ring during activities that may cause impact or exposure to chemicals, such as:
These can scratch the metal, loosen stones, or damage the ring’s finish. Always store your ring safely when not wearing it.
Inspect your ring regularly under good lighting. Gently tap or nudge the stone and if it moves: the setting may be loose. You should also check for bent or worn claws. If you notice any issues, stop wearing the ring and contact a jeweller for repair.
You can safely clean most engagement rings at home using this simple method:
Regular at-home cleaning keeps your ring sparkling, but professional cleanings once or twice a year help maintain its brilliance and check the setting.
It’s generally not recommended to wear your engagement ring while exercising. Physical activity, especially anything that uses your hands, can put your ring at risk of:
For safety, it’s best to remove your ring before your workout and store it somewhere secure. Some people wear a silicone ring band during exercise to protect the original ring while keeping it on.
