Will Brexit affect my order?

Towards the end of 2020, the UK and European Union signed a Brexit Trade Agreement that came into effect at the start of January 2021. As a company proudly based in Europe, with legal entities in both Portugal and Germany, we are pleased to inform our customers in Australia that services will continue with little to no changes.

Europe now accounts for half of our transactions and, following this deal, we expect this to become a majority. We are, as ever, fully committed to providing the same level of service to all our customers, whether based in the UK or Europe.

The following rules apply to customers living in Australia.

Jump to:
  • VAT
  • Duties
  • Delivery
  • Returns and Repairs

VAT

The only difference is that you will now be charged VAT on your purchase once it arrives in your country of residence, instead of paying VAT at checkout as was the case before Brexit. Your local VAT rate will apply. You can contact your customs office for further information or refer to our Tax and Duties Calculator to know approximately how much you will be charged.

Duties

As is stated in the Brexit Trade Agreement, items produced in the UK are duty free. This means your jewellery will pass through EU customs without any further charges, as was the case before Brexit.

On some rare occasions, you may be asked to pay import duties on certain items once they reach Australia. In the unlikely event that you are required to pay duties, 77 Diamonds commits to refunding these in full.

Delivery

There will be no changes to our delivery service. Most of our items are handcrafted and made-to-order, which is why we need a little extra time to create your beautiful jewellery. Due to the effect of COVID-19, please take into consideration certain delays: classic ring designs will now take approximately 3 weeks to be delivered, while our diamond-set items will take around 6 to 7 weeks to arrive.

If you do need your jewellery any earlier be sure to contact our team and we will organise a quicker delivery.

Returns and Repairs

If you are sending your item back to us for repair or a resize, it is important we keep your local customs office informed to avoid any taxes and duties. Our after sales team can organise this from start to finish, so be sure to contact us.

If you wish to return your item, we will refund you the full amount paid at checkout. However, you will need to contact your local customs office to be refunded VAT. If you need any support in reclaiming VAT in Australia, please contact our customer service.
