With a crisp white colour that keeps over the years, a platinum band will complement the brilliance of any diamond engagement ring.

The crisp, clean white of a platinum wedding band will be a stunning addition to an engagement ring as it will complement and enhance the brilliance of diamonds. A platinum wedding ring is also a great choice for those looking for a durable and resistant metal.

Why choose platinum?

With a silvery-white finish that keeps over time, platinum has long been a favoured metal for wedding bands. Naturally white and reflective, this rare metal was often used in jewellery design over centuries to complement the brightness of diamonds. Following a renewed interest after World War Two, platinum quickly became a choice metal for newly-weds.

Today, it is the most valued and sought-after precious metal, exceeding even gold. This metal is the ideal choice for those looking for durability and strength. By its very nature, a platinum ring will never tarnish or change colour.

After many years of wear, your platinum ring may develop what is known as a patina finish, which gives the metal a slightly clouded sheen. Many like the vintage look of the patina, however, you can always restore your wedding ring to its original lustre by bringing it in to be polished professionally.

As pure platinum is quite soft, our wedding rings are alloyed with another metal, tungsten, to increase hardness. This is why you’ll notice the number “950” on our platinum designs, indicating the ring is 95% platinum and 5% alloy. This alloy also makes our platinum wedding rings completely hypoallergenic.

Finally, platinum is denser than gold, making it a suitable option for those who prefer a heavier feel to their wedding band.
