Sotheby’s Auction house is to host the sale of Important Jewels, scheduled to take place in New York on 28th September 2010. The auction features extremely important diamond jewels from a private collection.
One of the prominent pieces is a platinum and diamond pendant necklace by jewellery designer Harry Winston which holds a pear shaped 10.02-carat, D, IF, diamond as the centrepiece. The diamond is a type IIa and is suspended from an stylish and traditional necklace, decorated with matched rows of round and pear shaped diamonds. The item was given a pre-sale estimate price of $1 million (£648,973) to $1.5 million (£974,126).
There are other highlights of the exclusive sale, including a private collection of diamond jewellery featuring three classic examples of typical Harry Winston designs. The first feature is a platinum and diamond necklace with approximately 50 carats of round and baguette diamonds. This first item is complemented by a second piece, a fluid platinum and diamond bracelet held together with a diamond clasp. The third example is a very versatile pair of platinum and diamond ear-clips which are created to include floral cluster tops with suspended diamond fringe pendants.
Another focal piece of jewellery at the auction is a fancy intense yellow diamond ring, featuring a central 17.97 carat diamond, surrounded by white trapeze cut diamonds. This carries a pre-sale estimate of $400,000 (£259,836) to $600,000 (£389,711).
A selection of unique diamond rings by David Webb and Cartier are also being showcased in this collection.
