The infamous engagement ring given to Sharon Tate by director and actor Roman Polanski is about to go under the hammer. The gold ring features a four-karat opal surrounded by garnet stones, and was given to Tate upon the couple’s engagement in 1967. Two years later, Tate was tragically murdered by the Manson family whilst carrying Polanski’s child.
The ring, which Tate was wearing on the night she was murdered, is now expected to fetch around $10,000 in the forthcoming ‘Gotta Have Rock and Roll’auction; a pop culture memorabilia sale which also includes items of Elvis Presley’s clothing and a bustier worn by Madonna. The auction will begin on 30thNovember, running until 9th December.
