Well just when you thought that you’d seen it all... A glamorous hotel in Abu Dhabi has outdone the diamond advent calendar with a 34-foot Christmas tree decked out in diamonds.
The diamond- and jewel-encrusted Christmas tree is said to be worth over £7million thanks to the scores of precious stones and jewellery that adorn the relatively inexpensive pine. However, the hoteliers have not completely flouted tradition as the tree is also dressed with more traditional lights and festive decorations.
According to the BBC, the tree is dressed with a staggering array of watches, necklaces and bracelets that contain 181 diamonds, pearls, emeralds, sapphires and other precious stones. Unsurprisingly the tree has warranted 24-hour security.
