Shape Up!
Diamond shapes vary enormously, and the shape of any particular stone determines its beautiful finished form and can be the deciding factor for any buyer. Seventy Seven Diamonds is preparing for the launch of its new, enhanced and unrivalled education section – and the first step to understanding diamonds is to fully understand about all their wonderful shapes!
Here’s an overview of what you can expect, from quick hard facts to detailed background reviews and sound advice...
Quick facts and images
The new Shape Section will offer a comprehensive summary of the most infamous and original shape, the Round Brilliant, and for each of the Fancy Diamond Shapes such as the Princess Shape or the Marquise Shape – all easily accessible, right at your finger tips. These concise facts will be enhanced by clear and detailed images to help you identify exactly what we are referring to.
Unique features
For those who require deeper information regarding shapes, the shape pages will also offer specific facts on their unique features which are crucial factors when considering a loose diamond, engagement ring or jewellery purchase.
Ratio
As an additional bonus, we offer the recommended ratio ranges suitable for each specific shape and highlight the ratio grades that are most popular. A diamond’s ratio is used to assess how wide or narrow a diamond will appear and can be calculated by dividing its Length with its Width. It can therefore alter the appearance of any shape dramatically – an important criterion to bear in mind when choosing your diamond shape.
Insider advice
We will also be issuing rare insider advice relevant to every diamond shape, to give you the very best and up-to-date facts and guidance. For example, we might recommend a certain shape to suit particular hand or finger shapes, or highlight things which one should look out for with certain diamond forms, such as the ‘bow-tie effect’ which is a shadow that occurs occasionally in the Marquise, the Oval and the Pear shapes.
History and background
The advice part will be followed by an even more detailed presentation of the particular history and background of each fancy shape. Here we will include when and how the shape was initially created and how it may have transformed over time to the form or variation we are now familiar with.
Famous shapes
Every diamond shape has its own famous expert, antique or historic examples, which Seventy Seven Diamonds highlights at the end of every particular shape page, including a link to a devoted page for each of these stunning famous shapes which boast such fascinating stories. For example, the Kazanjian Red Diamond is a famous and unique emerald shaped stone, weighing 5.05 carats and discovered in South Africa in the early 1900s.
Soon this shape section will all be interactively linked with an in-depth glossary which can provide you with easy-to-grasp information, facts and images to help you with definitions all the way. If you manage to soak up our shape section and the complete education section to follow, you will find yourself completely clued up on diamonds and confident in making the right choice with any retailer.
