First meeting

The couple met at a student night through friends nine-and-a-half years ago. Rob was living in Cardiff, so Kate would travel to visit him every couple of weeks. When Rob relocated back to Plymouth after university, the couple moved in together. “We’ve been asked by friends and family for years when we’ll get engaged, so when it happened we had a lot of happy and excited reactions,” shares Kate.

The one

“We have always talked about wanting the same things in life. We knew for sure when we decided to buy a house together five years ago,” say the couple. “We also decided to get a cat three years ago. You can’t get much more committed than sharing the care of a living creature together,” Kate adds.

The proposal

Rob proposed after a picnic on Dartmoor overlooking Burrator Reservoir, which is Kate’s favourite spot. “He spent ages fussing in the car putting everything back and when he turned around he had a bottle of champagne and two glasses. He walked over and said the champagne was from Mont Blanc and that he wanted to take me back for our honeymoon. But first he needed to ask me a question. He asked me to stand up and then got down on one knee. Of course, I said yes! Afterwards, he informed me that my Dad had cried more than me when he asked for his blessing,” shares Kate.

The ring

Rob selected the Delicacy ring in 18k yellow gold with a round brilliant diamond. “I’ve possibly given a few hints over the years, but he picked it himself and I absolutely love it. It’s more than I imagined, and I love how it looks classic and elegant,” Kate says.

Congratulations Rob and Kate, we wish you a lifetime of happiness!
