It seems that even the Royals cannot escape the age of austerity as it has been reported that Prince William and his fiancée Kate Middleton are going to hit the Scilly Isles after their April 29th wedding, forgoing an expensive honeymoon abroad.
The credit-crunch honeymoon is hot on the recession-induced trend of ‘staycations’, popular with the middle-classes who have felt the pinch in the last couple of years. However, the Scilly Isles, just off the Cornish coast attract millions of visitors of year thanks to its hot Riviera-like summers.
It was previously expected that the couple would return to Kenya where Wills popped the question last year. However after the lavish nuptials at Westminster Abbey, it is thought that the famously down-to-earth couple have plumped for a more sober honeymoon destination.
