Two New York diamond dealers have been found guilty of staging a jewellery robbery of their own stash as part of a $7million insurance scam.
Jewellers Atul Shah and Mahaveer Kankariya hired a band of thugs dressed as Hasidic Jews to rob them of the valuable jewels, which the pair then later claimed on insurance.
After a three week trial at the Manhattan Supreme Court, the jury found the bungling twosome guilty after Justice Thomas Farber dismissed elements of the heist as ‘frankly ridiculous’, reports the Daily Mail.
