Sunday night’s Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards in Downtown Los Angeles saw a glittering array of celebrities from the world of film and TV. As expected The King’s Speech and Black Swan led the honours, collecting the Best Actor and Actress gongs respectively, mirroring last month’s Golden Globes. However, here at 77 Diamonds, we were just a touch distracted by the red-carpet diamonds on display.
Of course, Best Actress nominee and winner Natalie Portman (see above) stole the show in a strapless white Azzaro gown which she teamed with a staggering $2million worth of Tiffany diamonds. The loot consisted of two diamond bracelets and diamond-drop earrings set in platinum, which the pregnant actress teamed with a black satin Roger Vivier clutch.
In fact, the Black Swan cast didn’t disappoint as co-star Mila Kunis also opted for a stunning strapless gown, this time in peach and red. Kunis’ sweeping Alexander McQueen frock was styled with a Cartier diamond bracelet and earrings set in yellow gold.
The other standout movie star of the evening was Hilary Swank, who wore a show-stopping nude chiffon Versace gown. However, in an impressive display of one-upmanship, the Oscar-winning actress trumped the competition with the ultimate in lux ornamentation – a diamond encrusted dress. The asymmetric neckline of the dress was detailed with scores of the precious gems, allowing the dress to do the talking.
Nevertheless, despite the fact they missed out on the Best Ensemble Cast award, the girls of Glee certainly compensated with an impressive show of diamonds.
Songstress Lea Michele was the undoubted frontrunner as she took to the red carpet with a staggering $1million worth of Tiffany jewels. The musical theatre actress accessorized her beaded nude Oscar De La Renta gown with oval cut diamond earrings set in platinum, a pear-shaped diamond ring set in platinum with a split shank and no less than three diamond bracelets stacked on her right wrist. However, co-stars Naya Rivera and Jenna Ushkowitz still wowed in a Chopard cocktail ring, diamond chandelier earrings and yellow gold Neil Lane diamond necklace respectively.
