Jewellery Trends A/W2011

The autumn/winter 2011 catwalks were awash with stunning jewel tones, which are set to replace summer’s trend for brights and block colours. Beautiful dresses were premiered in sumptuous hues and luxurious textures; from emerald and sapphire to ruby and garnet. Ralph Lauren pioneered the bejewelled look with a collection of full-length dresses in dazzling emerald green, while Lanvin and Versace opted for midnight blue creations. Dior also followed fashion with stunning cocktail dresses in a deep ruby red. Already this new trend is being hailed as the alternative to black for autumn and winter, in both daytime and evening wear.

This new trend calls for dramatic accessories! The beautifully sumptuous jewel tones should be complimented with gold jewellery, and extravagant statement pieces will finish off any evening look. Gold earrings, such as these Chandelier diamond drops, will accentuate deep tones of ruby and midnight blue.

Alternatively, a sparkling cocktail ring is another perfect accessory. We love the Celestia ring, which dazzles with five rows of diamonds. It’s the perfect way to make an entrance at any party!

A more subtle nod to the trend can easily be worked into daytime outfits and work wear. We recommend pairing a jewel coloured blouse with a classic tennis bracelet for an elegant and on-trend look.
